Dear Families,
After reviewing your much-appreciated survey feedback and having several discussions with the catechists, Fr. Chmil, Diocesan representatives, other teachers and Directors of Religious Education, and the administration at Compass Academy (the organization who rents our school building), we have decided not to hold in-person religious education classes at this time. For Grades K-6, we have chosen a new program, Christ in Us, by Sadlier. The new program utilizes physical books AND a very user-friendly and interactive online learning platform that we are looking forward to sharing with you! We are also developing fun crafts and activities for a unique take-home iGen experience. We will not be holding Pre-K classes or Children’s Liturgy of the Word at this time, but children in this age group are welcome to participate in the iGen crafts and activities as appropriate.
In order to make this transition as easy as possible, we would like to meet with all families throughout the month of October to explain the program, distribute books, and go through a lesson together. All parents are asked to complete the program registration as soon as possible and provide their availability for their in-person family orientation. Information for registration has been emailed to all families and is also available under "For Parents/Students" below.
Sacramental preparation classes (First Communion and Confirmation) will continue to use their current programs and meet in-person. These families will be contacted separately with more information. A link to the Sacramental Preparation page can be found under "For Parents/Students" below.
Yours in Christ,
Tiffany Haller, Director of Religious Education
Becky Goonan, Asst Director
Caroline Cipriani, Children’s Ministry Coordinator
All religious education correspondence can be directed to Tiffany at 570-322-5935 or

The Catholic Church believes that parents are the primary religious educators of their children. We, in turn, seek to support and reinforce what the children are learning at home by teaching authentically the beliefs of the Church as handed on to us in both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Beyond the classroom, we also utilize creative opportunities to help our young people experience and celebrate our Catholic faith through the Liturgy and the Sacraments, as well as other special events and activities.

New and returning students can be registered by submitting an online registration form and payment, or by downloading a printable registration form and returning it with payment to the Parish Office by mail or via the collection (please mark the envelope “Religious Education"). Both registration forms can be found under "For Parents/Students" below.

Our religious education programs would not be possible without our many, dedicated volunteers, and new faces are always welcome! If you are interested in volunteering as a teacher or aide, please email All volunteer leaders must be at least 18 years of age (high school students in 10th through 12th Grades are welcome to be assistants accompanied by an adult supervisor) and must participate in a VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children workshop and submit appropriate background checks. More information about background checks can be found under "For Volunteers" below.
